Mastercard at Dragonia: deposits, payouts and the gap between them

Mastercard runs on the same terms as Visa at this cashier — €20 to deposit, €25 to withdraw, instant one way and 1–3 business days the other — but a few practical details differ enough to be worth their own page: Maestro cards, the Identity Check flow, and how Italian issuers treat gambling merchants. Everything below is written from the outside: we review Dragonia, we do not operate it, and we have no access to anyone's card. The rest of the review is at the homepage.

Making a deposit

The flow is the familiar one: card number, expiry, CVV, then the Mastercard Identity Check step that your bank pushes to its app for approval. Credit, debit and prepaid Mastercards are all accepted, and the balance updates as soon as the authorisation clears — in seconds, not minutes.

Maestro deserves a footnote of its own. Older Maestro cards are being retired across Europe and are increasingly refused online, so if your bank issued one years ago and it fails here, the card is more likely to be the problem than the cashier. A modern debit Mastercard from the same bank will normally go through where the Maestro did not.

Taking a withdrawal back to the card

A payout is sent back to the card that funded the account, because money returns the way it came. The floor is €25 and the stated window is 1–3 business days, most of which is the card scheme rather than the operator: approval is typically same-day on a verified account, and the remainder is the refund working its way through the issuer.

The daily ceiling of €5,000 and the monthly ceiling of €30,000 apply across all methods combined rather than per card. One quirk worth knowing: some issuers post a card refund with the date of the original purchase, so the money can be in your available balance while the transaction list still looks unchanged. The full payout procedure is described under how to withdraw.

Blocks, fees and the issuer's role

The most common reason a Mastercard deposit fails has nothing to do with the casino. Italian banks routinely block the gambling merchant category, either by default on certain products or because the cardholder once switched that block on. A decline of that kind happens at the issuer, is invisible to the operator, and can only be resolved with the bank — and if it was a self-exclusion measure, it should be left exactly where it is.

On cost, the operator declares no fee in either direction and our transactions credited in full. The charge that can appear is the issuer's: a credit card that treats a gambling deposit as a cash advance will apply its own fee and start charging interest immediately. Read the card's terms rather than assuming a free transaction.

Verification and the card-specific check

Before a first payout the operator asks for an identity document, a selfie and a proof of address, plus — where a card funded the account — an image of the card with the middle digits and the CVV covered. The stated review time is 24 to 48 hours. Clearing this while nothing is queued is the difference between a payout that takes three days and one that takes a week; the documents go to the operator's compliance desk, never to this portal.

Is a card the right rail for you?

Yes, if you want zero setup and you cash out rarely — nothing beats a card for convenience at the deposit end. No, if payout speed matters: Trustly returns money to the same bank account in one to two hours and sidesteps merchant-category blocks entirely, and Skrill is just as quick if you already hold a wallet. If you prefer to keep gambling off a card statement, a SEPA bank transfer is the traditional alternative. The comparison table is on the payments hub, and the deposit walkthrough sits under how to deposit. See also the Visa guide, which covers the same rail from the other scheme's side.

Is Maestro accepted?
Sometimes, but the product is being withdrawn across Europe and older Maestro cards are increasingly declined online. A current debit Mastercard from the same bank is the reliable substitute.
How long does a Mastercard payout take?
One to three business days from approval, weekends excluded. The operator's own review is normally same-day on a verified account; the rest is the issuer processing the refund.
What are the minimum amounts?
€20 to deposit and €25 to withdraw. The higher payout floor reflects the cost of processing a refund rather than an authorisation.
Why did my bank decline the deposit?
Most likely a gambling merchant-category block on the card. It is set by the issuer, not by the casino, and only the issuer can change it.
